Any tool that can grow your business is worth it. I asked some top twitter users about how to best take advantage of social media for business and the advice was fantastic.
“What would you say helped you gain followers and customers when starting out or breaking the first 1,000 followers?” Inbound Marketer @sales_hub Tyler Abbott says, “Content is number one. If you aren’t sharing or posting content that matters, you will not increase your follower base… Tweet links to important topics. Use Images. Follow industry leaders.” Get to know your audience and share content that is relevant to them. Over time, you will learn who to speak to and how to better engage.”
“What do you attribute your early Twitter growth too? Any keys that helped you reach people that you could share?” Lawyer, Texpatriate, #startup advisor @RKWDC Robert K. Williams says, “Twitter can be an incredibly powerful tool for building a dedicated and engaged following, either for your business¬†or for your own personal brand; and the simplest way to do so is to be consistent in the timing, frequency, and tone of your tweets.”
“Have you noticed that it helps get you new clients or sales?” Bestselling Author and Coffee Devotee @JonathanGunson says, “Twitter and FB do not work as “billboards”. Instead they are part of having a presence and developing relationships with clients. (i.e. It all depends on how you use them.)”
Key Takeaways: Social media is not a means to an end but what I am slowly learning is about gaining new connections, engaging in conversation, and providing help to others. Being genuine is the best way to help people and it comes through with Facebook, Twitter, or any social media endeavor. The real fruits of your labor are the engagements with people that you spark. Being keen on their interests and offering, when possible, ways to help or assist them that are real and in your wheelhouse will provide you with the best return on social media.
